The office of Corporate and Foundation Relations at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center serves as a catalyst to develop strategic, mutually beneficial philanthropic partnerships between corporations and foundations and the BIDMC community. The goal of these relationships is to assist corporations and foundations in fulfilling their own missions while advancing the research, clinical, educational, and outreach goals of the Medical Center.
Each year, hundreds of corporations and foundations make philanthropic gifts to advance the mission of BIDMC. The following are examples of how a gift or grant may be directed. Please feel free to contact our offices for additional information.

- Clinical or research program development

Corporate Relations
Corporate Relations at BIDMC develops strategic partnerships with local, national and international corporations to meet the goals and interests of these corporations while also accomplishing goals and priorities of the Medical Center.

Foundation Relations
Foundation Relations at BIDMC develops strategic partnerships with local, national and international foundations to meet the goals and interests of these foundations while accomplishing many goals and priorities of the Medical Center, including:
- advancing scientific discovery
- enhancing personalized compassionate care
- building innovative education and training opportunities for faculty/staff
- employing quality and safety initiatives that save lives and vastly improve the patient experience
- developing efficient health care information technology (IT) platforms
- providing community-based accessible and equitable health care
- investing in vital healthcare support programs
- building and renovating state-of-the-art facilities and incorporating leading technology and equipment

The Fall 2010 issue of Giving Matters features a story on page 8 on the Clinical Investigators Training Program (CITP), a competitive fellowship program that has for 17 years trained more than 150 physicians from BIDMC and other Harvard-affiliated institutions in clinical and translational research. Funded and supported since its inception by Pfizer, Inc. and since 2004 by Merck & Co., the program is a perfect example of how corporate partnerships can be made with medical academia in this conflict-of-interest era.
